I had these four Doves lined up for a family pic when something startled

I like this composition, mainly for the fact that doves are generally seen in pairs, so to get 4 in a frame like this is a good find.

In the larger view, the "Winter blue" sky really isolates the subjects well. I like the definition and colour in the plumage as well as the eye highlights. The one "taking off", although a little less defined, adds action/movement to the image.

The angled branch, corner to corner, adds a nice touch.
