scott_mcgougan 0 Posted April 26, 2001 but I *LOVE* B&W underwater shots. Everyone seems so preoccupied with supersaturated macro work when diving, this reminds me of what we miss when people don't try B&W UW, even though this is obviously not an UW shot. I had planned to burn lots of B&W on my last dive trip to Palau and Yap, but due to technical difficulties and stupidity on my part, I didn't get a single UW shot on the whole trip, just video. This shot makes me regret that even more. I'm definitely ranting off topic of this photo itself...this shot really pleases my eye, which likes the symmetry and the tone quite a bit. Link to comment
mdeeds 0 Posted May 3, 2001 I don't understand how this photo relates to beauiful underwater photography. These fish have been caught, cleaned, and are lying on some sort of grate. What I find interesting about this photo is thejuxtaposition of life and death. At first glanceit appears to be a school of fish. Then you notice that they are all dead. The inversion of the image gives an interesting perspective which always disturbs me. (I don't like it.) But I think it could work in this photo for some people. Link to comment
scott_mcgougan 0 Posted May 4, 2001 Matt, you have answered your own question. Quoted from your comment: "At first glance it appears to be a school of fish. Then you notice that they are all dead." The first sentence in the quote, I think, is your answer. Link to comment
karen_jacot 0 Posted May 14, 2001 I like the symmetry and pattern in this photo. I was surprised a bit when I studied it closer and found that those eyes were not attached to the rest of the body! I really like all of your black & white photography. Link to comment
gijs_langelaan 0 Posted January 22, 2002 excellent! really reminds me of the work by M.C. Escher. Was this an inspiration for this shot? gijs Link to comment
