This has a lot going for it - starting with a cute baby. I wonder if you have considered a vertical crop? You have a bit of empty gray space. It might bring more attention to the baby with a crop. Also, a wider aperture with focus on the child's eye might obscure the cute hat little more. Right now, I think it might fight with the baby for attention.

Nice lighting, exposure, and color.  Good color contrast of the skin tone and the background/foreground.  I would suggest a rather tight square crop around baby and hat to remove the "sinking in quicksand" look of the current composition.  I hope this helps.  Good luck.
