I found this composition in a small public garden area in Monterey, CA. I'm

curious to know what kind of flowers these are, if anyone knows. Also,

critiques of the photo are appreciated. Thx, -Clayton

Gregory and Margo, thanks for identifying the flowers for me and for commenting. Photography has made me a better naturalist. Whenever I photograph an interesting but unfamiliar bird, flower, tree, etc., it prompts me to learn the identity, often with help from others, like yourselves. Cheers, -Clayton

Wonderful exposure - the flowers burst out of the screen with vibrant three dimensional wonderuflness. The colours are mesmerising, and the detail along the edge of the petals is perfect. Nice composition with the bird bath, and love the added interest of the daisies nestling around the bird bath. If it were me I would be tempted to cheat and fill a little of the space towards the top left hand corner with a cloned flower or some foliage - in factm maybe fill all the spaces in so that there is no grey to be seen. I think it would make this a very lush image. Also could you add an every so slightly blue hue (nothing too tacky) to the water in the bird bath?

Hi Graham, thanks for your encouraging comments. I actually did do some slight touch up to remove clutter around the edges and some lines that were visible in the concrete in top left. I tried not to get too carried away though. Interesting idea about the water. This was an overcast day, so there was not any natural blue tint to the water, but maybe some slight addition in post processing would add appeal. I'll give it a try and see how it looks. Cheers, -Clayton
