so nice to hear from your roger!   I appreciate your input on this image, where light plays a very important focus. Re your Beautiful Peony, I don't know why I didn't think of it as Peony. I know that Rose of Sharon does not have yellow Stamens, yet for some reason the petals reminded me so much of the 'sharon'. I had some peony's but not as exotic as yours. Sincere appreciation for your visit, Gail

I tried not to oversharpen, but perhaps it may look like that on your Moniter. This shot was challenging, but more so in the DOF. But I when I print it I will make sure I have not got the petals too sharp. Many thanks Radu, your thoughts are most appreciated as I know what an expert you are with flowers and your skill as a Photographer is much admired by me.

Hello Patsy, I hope you are enjoying a good weekend - so far. We had our hottest days yesterday and today, with the humidity , felt like 40! Many folks have been suffering terribly with the heat, especially the elderly and those with respiratory problems. Smog alerts also. The weather sure is wierd. Hopefull you will be able to get some fine images this weekend. I have not gone out too much in this heat. But is suppossed to cool down somewhat over the weekend. Many thanks for your encouraging remarks and support. Hope you find some more 'happy' sunflowers!!! Cheers for now, Gail

Gial, Great use of shallow depth of feild, the detail in the areas in focus are fantatsic, it reveals all the small fibrous details. The composition is also very well thought out. Great work.

Regards Richard

I'm always delighted to replace someone's "Favorites" folder photo with a newer one. This is stunning. It has such a strong, warm atmosphere. best, j

p.s.: Seven, easy. Also, I tried that lens, but I didn't like it. The blur was a bit harsh (softer than the L-version of the lens though. The L was terrible.) I pulled in much closer than you are here, however. I think the quality of blur varies a lot with the focus state of the lens. You must have been quite a ways back, given the crop sensor and the long lens.
