I would like to know if the exposure and composition on this works, and

any other comments people have.

Yes, I think both exposure and composition work here.  The distant background might be o.k. for slightly more contrast, but that's a common problem with distant mountain landscapes at this time of day.  I really like the fact that you devoted about 2/3 to water and only 1/3 to the background mountain.  I think the light and color in the water are better than that on the mountain, and it generally makes a better overall photo.  The spot of red on the boat and its reflection are nice touches.

I'd prefer a 3:2 or similar ratio, because it feels like there's too much space at the bottom (i.e. cropping just above the green streak across the bottom).

Also, the  upper left quadrant seems a little too blue.

Phyllis,   I agree with Stephen.  You have a nice image here.  I tinkered with the contrast.  What do you think?  Best regards.  Larry

I hope I'm writing this in the right place. I'm new here, and am just learning.

Yes, I like what you did. I think it takes a bit of brightness out of the hills, which is an improvement, and deepend the color a bit.

Thanks for your interest and help.

Phyllis
