I found myself wishing I had my tripod with me as light was getting low.

Regardless, it was a wonderful walk. Thanks for comments. Thanks for

looking.

Wonderful warm light and textures in this image Rich.  I think you can bring out a bit more details if you tone down the highlight just a tad. I took the liberty to play a bit with your image, I adjusted the tones, and warmed it a little bit. As usual i do not claim mine is better just different.  Regards - michel

Richard,  You did capture wonderful light with a good eye focused on capturing a detailed message. You saw the tree rather than the whole forest.  I think Michael's image has improved sharpness.  Nice work.  When your image is good enough to warrant fussing by others, you know you have a quality image.  Regards.  Larry

Larry, thanks for the complement.  I was actually walking around saying over and over in my head.. "look for the light".  I would find it... compose.. shoot.

The light on the mossy stump contrast so nicely with the surroundings -- it's a wonderful composition.

Rich, when i worked on your image i realized it was in Pro Photo RGB space this is quite adequate for printing, but not for web. I adjusted the contrast and tone, and then saved it in sRGB space for web;  sRGB provides a more accurate range of colors for the web.  I hope this helps.  Regards - michel

PS i really like your image on the Flicker group. The tonal range and the colors just jump right off the screen.  Beautiful
