Whalers Cabin, Point Lobos

donbright

This picture taken with a Hasselblad 501CM, 80mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia, Kodak Wratten 81B, Tripod.

This was one of my first Point Lobos Photographs dating back to 1992 just as Velvia 50 was released. Early morning before the crowds showed I used my Hasselblad CM, with the 80mm lens. Two years later I made the switch to Pentax 67 because of cropping reasons.

Found this one early morning under the classic fog canopy in Point Lobos.

Built by Chinese fisherman in the 1850s. This cabin was used as a

bunkhouse for Whalers.

Don, I really like it! The trunk/lower bole of the cypress on the right helps frame it, is really striking, and it's color mimics the cabin. The smoke coming out ads a cool dynamic.

Thanks Jim, This is one of those, get it before it disappears studies. Photography, so much about time, or trying to freeze it.
