An amazing capture from an unusual point of view. Great timing and good definition..............

Well done

This is a hard shot to get the exposure right (white bird/black feet/backlit a little), the focus right, the depth of field right, etc. and you nailed it.

Superb capture. Technically perfect and perfectly timed. I also see some humor in this, the bird looks like a music conductor in full concert... Lovely work - michel

I Ian. I love the images you have taken of the Puffins and Gannets. Great job. However, I think this one is weak. Technically it is superb like the others, but the bird's position is rather un-attractive to me. It almost looks like it is about to tuck into a "canon ball" splash.  Thanks for sharing.

Ian, spectacular capture.  It's splendidly sharp, and these are tough to get with a bird flying right at you (I know from experience).

I love the unusual perspective, the feet forward, the thinking out-of-the-box.  (Take a look at some of my recent photos, and esp. the one of the great egret (Wing Art) and the half a pelican :>) where I was actually trying to get the whole bird.)  We need more of the unusual in this rather crowded field.

Perfect composition too...the gannet is perfectly positioned.  The out-of-focus foliage at the bottom adds balance and a sense of proportion and place.  Good detail in the white feathers, too.

Congrats on a great photo!

Best regards,

Dennis

I cannot say it any better than Dennis. I particularly like the form and clarity of the bird. On my monitor the webbed feet look a little dark but that must be the way they are naturally. Congrats on a very fine image which I have rated a 6.

Ian,

Caught this splendid and unique shot going across the "Daily Photo Samples from Our Members" today.

Anything I could contribute in words has already been said, . . . and much better than I could!

Excellent all the way around!

Regards always,

Jim j.
