When you have a handsome subject, you can't go wrong.  The photo seems to have lost it's highlights, most likely from the process of posting on-line.  I find that I have to compensate (add both highlights and sharpness) just prior to posting to keep the shot real.  In this case I've attached an example of my thoughts and have added back brightness, contrast and sharpness.  Since the eye tends to go to the brightest area of the frame, I've toned down the perimeter with a very slight vignette.  See what you think...  Mike

 

Oh yes, I removed the bright spot on his shoulder.

Yes I agree but I dont have photo editing software so I cant really do any color correcting.  I think why the shot is so dull is caused by the fact that I had my exsopsure bias value set at 5.

Hi Derrick

Keep at it because you really show promise. If you can get hold of some sort of editing software you will be amazed at what you can achieve. I would, for instance, straighten the horizon as well as adjusting the contrast. The main thing is that you have some fun! Best regards Louise
