lisa_m._holley 0 Posted July 3, 2003 I caught this shot outside Jeff Cook's House (Castle). They were very cooperative, but I definitely thought they made an odd couple. Even though they were cooperative I didn't want to get too close, so any suggestions on how to capture shots like this that look good would be great. Thanks. Link to comment
peterneibert 0 Posted July 4, 2003 Lisa, whenever you get bold swatches of black, white, red and yellow together like this, you definitely have a picture. How do you do it again? Just quack like a duck and follow them around -- at each break, snap another picture. Ducks get up early and you will probably find the indirect light of early morning more conducive to picking up the blacks in their full rich saturated color. You should train the ducks to pose their feathered parts in indirect sunlight yet allow just enough sun light into the pose to catch the glint in their eyes. Link to comment
michael_ward1 0 Posted July 4, 2003 Lisa, The composition here could be improved. The branches hanging down seem to interrupt the flow of the picture rather than lead the eye to where you might want it. I can't say how you might have done better for this particular image, except to suggest that you might have spent a little more time forming the image, in your mind and in the viewfinder, before releasing the shutter. Also, this picture needs quite a bit more contrast. There's no real black point there, and did you convert it to sRGB before uploading it? It's a lot worse in the browser than in Photoshop. Link to comment
waynemorgan 0 Posted July 7, 2003 I like it. I think your exposure is right on and I like the natural framing. I was just wondering if you have any where you got down on your belly to shoot at more of an eye level. Link to comment
lisa_m._holley 0 Posted July 7, 2003 Wayne, I am glad you like this shot. I did want to keep it as natural as possible which is why I shot it the way you see it. I do have a very strange friend when it comes to taking pictures...it is called the ground/concrete. Yes, if you ever saw me taking pictures, you would find me laying on my stomach a good bit of the time! LOL! Link to comment
