Beautiful colors! Beautiful landscape, and unusual too. It's very peaceful, almost static as is, but don't know if I'd want to crop-- especially some of the top-- to increase focus on the the best lighting in the photo's center? But either way, this is very, very nice.

very good! though I would lie to crop the bottom but it would cause the lost of structure of the photo. Excellent colors, textures. Good composition,Paul!

Gorgeous colours, and I love the way the tree within its bright oval echoes the smaller design of the rock and treetrunk reflection. The whole thing comes together very well as a composition, plus there is a lot of interesting detail to enjoy. Very good shot, wish I'd done it.

very tranquil and I love the arch of the tree trunk. I want to be able to see further right into the sunny patch, its a shame IMHO that I can't - have you cropped this from a bigger original? Lovely exposure.

Hi Neil, I'm afraid this is the original crop nothing to add from the right hand side. I understand your perspective however. Thanks for all comments received so far - very helpful.

Hello Paul, this one caught my eye for several reasons. The thumbnail looks like an abstract which is what originaly tweaked my interest but after opening up I am quite surprised with what I see.

My first impression is that the grass and background is a little overexposed,is this intentional or due to the light? What time of day was this shot?I almost think that a one stop ND grad would have given the background better tonal ranges and allowed you to get more detail in the foreground. The foreground bothers me more than the background though.

It is the spear shaped log and reflection that really throws me for a loop here,I think it is too intrusive and leads the eye to this spot prematuraly. The bright green grass counters this effect somewhat but not enough to balance out.

Aside from the log,I really like your composition overall but the busy left side keeps it from being powerful. There was a time when I would have complained about lack of saturation but not now so much...more of a tonal issue for me.Anyway, solid image.

I haven't read the previous comments, so I might be repeating...

I think there's a nice light in the background, but the lower part of the frame (lower third) is really too dark and almost featureless for me. I guess I would crop this out.

Thanks everyone for your comments so far, they have been very helpful - I appreciate the tonal ranges in this shot make for a difficult exposure and that the front section is too dark for many people taste and an excellent point on the ND grad filter that would have given the bright colours more depth. Thanks for taking the time to help me imporve.

Great picture Paul, the range of colours is amazing. I really like the hazy reflection off the water too.

My only slight query (and I mean slight) is whether the immediate foreground is too dark. Great shot nonetheless.

I was drawn to this photo, because I am of scottish descent, and have been there a couple years ago, very nice country... You really captured the feeling, the picture is very very nice. I like the spherical effect in it, also the bright light and colours which appear only in the middle of the image. I think the darkness on the rest of the photo, makes this light more vivid, contrasting and special.

Very beautiful. One thing comes to mind when viewing the picture: what a pity I have never been to this place!...

Thanks for capturing such a beautiful place of the Earth for us :)

Definitly a magic light, but IMHO there is too much mountain in the background. It does have a nice light as well on the top left corner, but I'd lose it, cropping in favour of the nicest central part of the picture
