jim_j2 9 Posted June 6, 2012 Thanks for taking the time to view, comment/critique, rate and, for allowing me the opportunity to share! Was playing around with the EF100mm f/2.8 Macro and took a couple of "Portrait" type shots @ f2.8 as is this one. I was thinking the DOF would be much shallower, but seemed to work! Thanks again, Jim j. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted June 6, 2012 I have the same lens Jim, and I have been practising using f2.8, and it seems to be working great. It is an excellent Portrait Lens. Amber (love that name and it suits her to a 'T'), she is a beautiful dog. I do not think I cound resist those eyes !!! Is she still a pup (I guess I should have looked to see if you have more images of her- will do in a moment). Beautiful lighting, Opportune moment, excellent presentation. You are fortunate to have such a 'beautiful' friend. :-) sincere regards, Gail Link to comment
jim_j2 9 Posted June 6, 2012 Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!Gail,Amber is now going on about 4 years. This was taken when she was just over 2 years old. Yes, I do have other photo's of her in my gallery along with her "soul mate" Bear! They are quite the pair, and wonderful friends to have around!I really should take more shots of them, they will do about anything I ask, but I'll just be satisfied with a shot now and then! But now that I've found the capabilities of the 100 f/2.8 and how well it seems to do wide open, . . . I'll have to try some more! Thanks again for your visits,Regards always,Jim j. Link to comment
Bill J Boyd 65,239 Posted June 6, 2012 Jim,I love this image. You have great lighting, and a dog with great colors. There is not a thing I would change on it. And, I like your framing. I need to figure out how to do that. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted June 6, 2012 Amber is a real cutie and this is an excellent portrait. I, too, have been trying the more wide open aperture shots lately and have been pleasantly surprised how well they come out... Mike Link to comment

michaellinder 16,613 Posted June 12, 2012 Amber's beauty and character come across loud and clear in this photograph. The tilt of her head and the furrows in her brow reveal the extent of her interest in your activity. Without overamping the detail or saturation, the image also captures the lush nature of her coat. You are very lucky to have such a companion. And she is very fortunate to have a skilled photographer who can share her with the rest of us.My best, michael Link to comment
