g1 0 Posted July 3, 2003 I'm not too sure what I'm looking at here [apart from the clue in the title]. The water seems to flowing around the rock yes? Is that the idea? Only the background doesn't fit. It is also very harsh on the edges. In effect it looks as if the sky is behind a 'piece' of water [not that you usually get pieces of water] and that it is going up and around the rock, when water doesn't usually go up anywhere! However, I do like the contrast between blur and detail on the water v rock. I would be interested in what your aims were before I rate your picture. Thankyou. Link to comment
nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted July 6, 2003 I appreciate your attention to this image. My idea was indeed to use the contrast between the textures and colors of the still rock and smooth water flowing around. I did not like the crop of the orginal frame (see the image attached below). In addition to rotating the image by 40 degrees or so, my adjustments included playing with tone curves and adding the background with gradient fill in the upper corners. While I realized that result is somewhat crude or at least ambiguous (or, perhaps, abstract?), I wanted to know whether the viewers find much aesthetic appeal in the contrasting textures, shapes and colors of the rock and water. Thank you again for stopping by. Link to comment
