Sometimes it's all in a name.  Indeed an odd couple.  Well done.  I think the bland sky is perfect here because it allows the scraggly tree to dominate the sky.  Is this really growing out of the silo?  I had never heard of a silo tree, so I looked it up and found some amazing images of trees growing right up through the center of the silo.  Very interesting!

Christal, thanks for visiting.  No, this tree is directly behind the silo, and I suspect the silo is no longer functional.  An abandoned barn is just to my right.  I could get a faint outline of a hill through the fog behind this odd couple if I tweaked it hard enough, but I wanted to keep the focus just on the tree and silo.  I, too, like the contrast (as well as the contrast between the smooth, regular form of the silo and the chaotic, random form of the tree).

I really like this in bw. The blandness of the sky adds additional impact to the detail throughout the silo and the tree branching. A fine image Stephen with great tonality, congrats, rek.

They most certainly are an odd couple, but they make a wonderful black and white image, well done Stephen.

Excellent strong detail.  The ridge of grass in the foreground is an good addition to the composition.  I think the rest has already been said.
