Little Sur River

donbright

On my way back home after this trip, and eager to get in the last shot of the day, I'm glad the light worked in my favor here, because I remember all the times it had not. Two takes to get this, one lens choice the 105mm 2.4, Velvia 50, B+W Kaesemann Polarizer, with a Lee 81B. In and out of there in 10 minutes. I didn't eat breakfast that morning, I'll not do that again, as I was in a hurry to eat.

Nice shot!I like the dark green tones with the sporadic spots of red and the heavy mist/fog that is crashing into the rocky mountain face.Bravo for an excellent image.

Salutations-Laurent

Thanks for the kind comments. This image is one of those three year exposure images. It was the fog bank that made me hit the brakes in the car to set this up.

Nice composition. I like the multiple angles and the dominant shadow in the foreground. Then the final sinuous end to the river with a great background. Lots to gaze at here.

Thanks Jim, This is one of those three year exposures, or more, I forget, but this day, last week the fog bank rolled in, and I hit the brakes to get out and set it up. A Photographer once said, your Photography is only as good as your willingness to use the brakes in the car. Maybe there's something to that.

Great shot, love the colours and composition. Well seen and executed. Support your quote about hitting the brake. best wishes William

All these guys that go overboard with post processing really need to take a moment and sense this kind of thing. Substance over style. When you feel this kind presence you know it's working.

Don, nice capture of this iconic scene. The fog definitely adds appeal and the s-curve is cooperating nicely. This scene is so tempting, I snap a shot nearly every time I drive by. It changes some each time, especially the course of the Little Sur River through the sand. Cheers, -Clayton

Clayton,

Thanks, and your right, this place changes every time I've passed by it. Many times just passing by it, but that can be a bad habit using a best past result to prevent another possibility. I've experienced that bad habit, and i'm trying to change it, because even though I shoot for me, I find it interesting what images work and don't work for others, learning through others while maintaining ones own vision is a another balancing act in Photography.
