chl studios 0 Posted June 26, 2003 It's so simple, yet very pleasing at the same time. The kind of picture I wish I had the sense to see when I'm running around looking for a some nice images. I really like the square dimensions. The lighting, esepcially on the seats is great. Link to comment
mielle 0 Posted June 27, 2003 a sense of balance. horizontal and vertical planes, and cool vs warm colors. expecting something yummy.. Link to comment
livvie 0 Posted June 27, 2003 i get quite carried away when i do these shots - i would have moved the kechup, salt pepper etc over to the middle and balanced them, then taken the shot so i had the same portions of the chair back at each side ... and people around look at me like i'm nuts .. and i probably am! good americana shot - i do like these Link to comment
mark_johnson12 0 Posted June 28, 2003 Great shot, Ben. Everything works well together and the balance is spot on. Link to comment
nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted June 28, 2003 While I am not very excited about the subject, I think it's very well done overall. Well composed. Tones and colors are excellent. Link to comment
sanjeewa_wickramarachi 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Nice. Just the type of thing I would try. The contents on top of the table to me are fine. I prefer them the way they are - adds a natural and random look to this abstract image. The only little flaw is that you can see a little bit more of one chair than the other. Link to comment
root 0 Posted June 29, 2003 I like the idea - maybe because I have a closeup version in my diner folder. The table seems to be almost dead center, yet the benches are not quite. I prefer to make them perfect or deliberately throw them off center. The white line and the three small dots are a distraction. I think I would have moved left. Try cropping off the right third and see what you think. Link to comment
matt_kime 0 Posted June 29, 2003 i think the lighting in this pic is dead on. however, i think the shot could be improved if it was a bit more symmetical and captured all of the seats. Link to comment
wisdumb 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Very Eggleston-esque, especially given the location. I like the soft tones, not sure how I feel about the symetry issue, the angle gives me more of a feeling like I'm walking up to the booth to sit down, balanced symetry might be a "mug shot" and loose a little of the life; might work too. Maybe, just maybe a little crop on the left to take out the back of the seat and a little crop on the top to take out the round dots (?) might add to the simplicity with less going on. Overall, I dig it, wish it were mine. Link to comment
canoe guide 0 Posted September 30, 2003 this one is interesting - you should do more like this. Not diners, but interesting light, color and form. This is photography that strives to break out from the "pretty picture" modality so common on this site. ps - it is a pretty picture, if you know what I mean. Link to comment
