dhauschild 27 Posted April 26, 2012 Below this noose is the unmarked grave or graves of three rustlers who were lynched by Vigilantes in Sumner county Kansas on July 29, 1874. They are William I Brooks, L.B. Hasbrouck and Charley Smith ( an alias) who was a one armed man, and thought to be the son of Ex-Governor Edwards of Illinois. They are buried in the far South West corner of the Wellington Pioneer Cemetery, Wellington, KS - plot 273. They were buried there without grave markers by order of sheriff Davis. Link to comment
