Dutch Windmill #2, Golden Gate Park

jay belton

f/22 @ 4 secs. (Calc. 3 secs, compensated for RLF by choosing 4 secs) (100mm)

Burnt in the dome and the shingles to add more contrast.

This image is full-framed.

It was kind of funny taking this shot. So many tourists. There were literally a few who stopped and parked real quick, walked quickly down the walk way, whipped out a one shot, snapped, ran back. All while I have the tripod fully extended upwards, standing on my tiptoes, composing, adjusting, composing. And had some guy make small talk with me because eventually I was just standing there staring at the windmill with my cable release in hand. "Are you waiting for the right light?" "Why yes I am." He was trying to pick up on me actually but trying to be coy at the same time. I got a good laugh out of it. :)

I really like this one James. You patience paid off. I like the detail in the hub of the windmill blades.

This one. Circular Walkway and Urban Bridge are my personal favorites. :) Thanks again Bridget. And thanks to you as well Matthew! :)

I like this composition much better. All the positives from my critique on your other windmill shot apply here.(I didn't know this one existed when I commented on the other one).

I must second the sentiment that I like this one better because most of my points on the other one are answered here.

This image is more dynamic because of the angles of the blades and the textures of the building stand out more. The building also appears more round.

However, this one appears to be too contrasty. The top of the dome is very hot and the detail under the dome appears lost. A little adjustment would help.

None the less, this image is much more interesting.
