A New Take On the Parachute Jump

totally dig it Laura, the only thing I don't like is the title you've chosen; let the picture speak for itself, it's very powerful, dumb old server on Photo.net isn't allowing me to see your portfolio, but I'll keep trying -- great job!

I don't think the title's that obtrusive, but what do I know? This composition is very interesting. The portion of the parachute jump hits you like a shot and creates an excellent anchor for the rest of the image. The sky is rendered marvellously. Wonderfully atmospheric and really quite an eye-grabber. How far is Coney Island from Park Slope in Brooklyn? I think I gotta go check it out when I'm out that way next month. Nice work Laura. I will look forward to seeing more of your work over time.

This is nice and fresh. I like that you only have half of the parachute jump in the frame and that there is only sky. The emptiness brings out the ghost that is Coney Island today...a shadow of its former self...

 

Coney Island is not too far from park slope on the subway, probably the F train...

I like it. It makes me feel bad that I didn't have my camera with me when I had the opportunity to get a shot from the base of the tower. Did you get this from Surf Avenue?

Nope. It was taken in the deadend of Stillwell Av. Close though.

Yeah, I'll have to wait till the next time someone climbs the tower and we'll standby (emergency services). I need to keep a camera with me always.
