patricia_eifel 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Wonderful image of Chambord. Very difficult to come up with original views of the chateaux and this does it. Composition is excellent with the zigzag of the pier and boats coming to foreground. I might have liked it marginally better without the extra boat in the distant center but excellent overall. l_a_k_h_i_n_d_e_r 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Lovely photograph. The boats add so much appeal with their diminishing sizes. Nice framing too. Link to comment
vishwa 0 Posted June 25, 2003 one of a few times that I have seen such an effective use of a pier and boats in an image that is primarily not about them. Excellent composition. Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Bonjour Francis: Un autre chef d'oeuvre gallique. Je suppose qu'il est l'heure en retard, mais ceci n'a pas tout à fait le contraste brillant que j'associe à certaines de vos autres images. Ca ne fait rien. Elle est encore spectaculaire. Link to comment
carol_watson 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Great shot! Would also look cool in black and white!! Well composed!! Link to comment
joel_le_montagner 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Original vue de chambord... Dommage qu'il y ait cette sorte de pédalo à l'arriére. Link to comment
mauricio alcaraz carbia 0 Posted June 25, 2003 Excelent composition with a remarkable DOF. Great sense of stillness and beautiful light. Very well done! Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted June 26, 2003 There's a little green plant in the foreground, right bottom. I wonder why it was not removed, either on location or in post production because it doesn't seem to belong. Other than that the only thing I can imagine that would make this image more spectacular than it already is might be golden sunset highlights on the edges of the building, and the boats, and the removal of the toursit boat in the center. Otherwise, Wonderful composition! The lines of the dock lead to the boats. The lines of the boats lead to the Chambord, or palace, or whatever it is. The light is not too spectacular, but that doesn't seem to matter. It's soft and even. Perspective is achieved by the lines that lead back and up into the frame. Link to comment
john_paskey 0 Posted June 26, 2003 Excellent. I don`t like the sky, but every other aspect of the photo is great, especially the composition. Link to comment
kai_compagner 0 Posted June 26, 2003 I'm not exactly the first to remark on this, but excellent composition! Link to comment
jonathon 0 Posted June 26, 2003 The image is sensational with the perspective of the wide angle, but I agree with Patricia, the modern white boat takes away some of the feeling of a more classic timelessness. Link to comment
philmorris 0 Posted June 26, 2003 I think the design splendid and colouring natural for dusk. I like the vertical framing. It goes with the alignment of the boats and the towers. I dont think it requires an exotic night sky to improve its aesthetic. Certainly not in the long term. Perhaps if we just had rowing boats in the scene rather than the large white pleasure craft I can see upper middle? I think the picture excels because it involves a well exposed, refreshing view of an oft photographed Loire chateau. My nit is out of the frame. I think the quality of the picture is cheapened by the bevel edging. It reduces it in my view to something approaching a cover for a satin pin cushion. Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted June 26, 2003 I don't know if this is a purely original view, but I haven't seen it before! I do agree about the modern boat, and (although this may be sacrilege to some)I might try to remove it! Link to comment
scott bulger 0 Posted June 26, 2003 The party boat is incredibly out of place and infringes awfully on the great scene you have captured here. The only changes I would suggest are things that were not within your control, so I'll take a pass on bringing them up. Very Good image. Link to comment
