Gold Glow at Heceta

Near the end of teaching a one week private workshop/tour (The Pearls of Oregon) my client and I were completely engrossed in a heavy fog layer that I thought might break right at sunset. We raced the The Heceta Lighthouse and just as the sun set, the fog layer began to break and the most unusual golden glow radiated for about a minute as we both shot our long exposures. No "Orton" glow effect was used in post production. We used both a circular polarizer and a 9 stop ND filter. Almost all work was completed in Lightroon 4 raw.

The effect of the long exposure is really quite pleasing, and the light is great.

I think I'd have to have them side by side to see the difference.  When flipping back and forth, any differences are lost.  This is a scene that is very difficult to know how it "should" look, and in this digital age I just have to accept your word that these colors are pretty close to what you saw.  I considered all of the colors in the frame, and I think they are within what I have personally experienced, especially considering the long exposure.
