In this case, I think computer manipulation has effectively added to the admosphere and immediacy of the subject. I like it very much.

Adam, always a pleasure to see your new work. The effect is great, excellent print all the way around. 7/7

At first glance I'm impressed with the picture. It's well exposed at night and the weather, looming skyscrapers and central building give a rather gothic appearance. The depiction of rain as omni-directional strokes of chalk wedges seem unphotographic. Why do they end with right-angle corners? I'd rather a more genuine production from a camera. The line of cars and the central tower direct my eyes to the foreground figure. I want to see the figure's feet. To see them splashing in the rain and I'm a little disappointed you were unable to include them. On the whole, still a good job.

A very dark and moody shot. I really like the bottom 2 thirds of the image However I would of prefered a more natural sky but on the whole I think this is quite a successfull image so I have to say nice work well done. 5/5

Marco nailed it.

This is Gotham City for sure. I keep looking at it trying to figure out what it reminds me of and then came back and saw Marcos comment. Very dark and sleek. I like it.

Very moody. Phil M points out that the overlay looks "unphotographic", and I guess it does. But does that matter? I don't think so, I think anything goes more or less. The overlay to me looks like some sort of contamination effect one might find if an old print was left for 50 years undiscovered amongst a mouldy old box of chemical containers. Or some such. I guess I'm saying it provides a mildly believable antique feel, even though there is an obviously modern car in the street. I think the originality, (particularly the dark moodiness and the overlaid pattern) is good. Aesthetically, it's almost there, I like the mood and the overlay more than I like the composition. For me the biggest downside is the lack of the pedestrian's feet.

Very, very cool. It reminds me of a Gotham City scene. The tones are wonderful and it sets a mood that is hard to duplicate. Well done.

To echo previous comments, I like the mood in this picture and the dark tones, I don't like (and this is an euphemism) the photoshop strokes you added.

I'm not sure the amputation of the pedestrian feet bothers me as much as it bothers others, although I would have preferred them to be included.

Also, I wonder if the picture would not benefit from a slight crop of its left side, removing the trees. The cropped version will have only buildings and a more consistent feel to it imo. In the frame as presented the trees are there but not really there...

I like this too Adam! Pretty much everything has been covered by now, but I do agree that some perspective correction would help. I would also like to see a more subtle treatment of the sky. But I like it as is.

Often people pick the worst images to maipulate. Usually the photograph starts out bad, and they only make it worse. Clearly this is an outstanding image that was improved further by skillful adjustment. Wonderful!
