h._p. 2 Posted June 19, 2003 I'd say that if you set out to be startling you've succeeded. Perhaps half as much black to the right would be even more effective. Link to comment
jmartin 0 Posted June 19, 2003 IMHO, the first condition for a "successful" photo is choice of subject. This subject is great! I like the use of negative space, the expression on his face, the composition. The light reflection off of his face is almost distracting: Oily skin or light just a little too direct? Almost distracting, but not. GREAT photo! (7/5) -jeff Link to comment
krillen 0 Posted June 19, 2003 NO! This is great the way it is! It makes you stop and take notice. I love it! It's almost eerie in a good way. Great Job Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 20, 2003 Yes, incredible details and lighting. What happens if you put the subject on the right side of the frame? Giving that the majority read from left to right... Its just a thought. This photo works perfectly well! Link to comment
armindo_lopes 1 Posted June 20, 2003 What can be seen is really good. I suppose the other half is similar... The crop seems a good idea and the face is full of detail. Link to comment
taner 3 Posted June 21, 2003 maybe just a little more forehead? - intriguing photo - love it. Link to comment
emilymcleod 0 Posted June 21, 2003 Very striking, but it leaves me wanting the other half. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted June 22, 2003 A good photograph (or should we say image as we are in the digital age) is a good photograph. It doesn't matter if it is in fashion or not. This image, irrespective of fashion, is good. I also think this photo illustrates that you don't have to photograph nubile young lovelies to get high ratings. PS. I only gave you 6/6 because you admitted you used photoshop. Even I am a bit of a purist! Link to comment
joe_garrick 0 Posted June 23, 2003 I'll have to go with John M, et. al. on this one. It's too good a face to leave half of it out of the frame. Link to comment
boonwed teo 0 Posted June 24, 2003 Thank a lot for great advice from Photo.net friends. I got a lot of things to learn more on photograhy. About the subject cropping, thank for suggestion. Link to comment
davidh 0 Posted November 14, 2004 What strikes me most is his expression, and in my humble opinion the velvet blackness on the right really works in this case. Great! 6/6 Link to comment
