You again? Now in the photocritique forum. What a coincidence :)

Wonderful photo Charlie. It is very hard to capture the colours from the leafs. You have done it. The composition is also correct and very nice with the leafed-lane complementing the trees. It is however not perfect. The mass of leafs from the trees on top is slightly to the left (the yellows at least, which are the most visible), so it would be better with the lane a bit to the right, to balance. You could have achieved this just by shooting a bit on your left and turning the lens to the same point it is looking at now. It is a very good photo nonetheless.

Jose,

Thank you for your suggestions, that didn't even occur to me. I'll have to start looking at things from a different perspective. Do you also find this photo a little dark? This was a cloudy day, but looking at it now I think I could brighten it up and make it more lively.

You give me an excuse to find this road next year. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love to drive around looking for colorful scenes, but it is so hard to find the perfect scene that is in the peak of "bloom".

I have been pretty active on here lately. I decided to dust off some photos. Also too often I've submitted photos for critique, and got no comments. So I thought I'd be part of the solution rather than the problem.

Charlie, the colors of fall are so beautiful - and you captured that here. Great mixture of dark greens, yellows, reds and oranges. The road leads you into the color and makes you feel like you are in the forest. Having the road in the center and you being in it's center gives the perfect balance. Very nicely done. Dave

Dark? Not at all. It is very well as is. The yellows and reds sparkle with light and the whole image looks natural this way. Also I don't know what would happen with colour saturation if you brighten it; it looks wonderful as is and maybe you would decrease it. If you shoot again at this location you will have a chance to try new things.

And yes, I also sometimes get no comments when submitting for critique. You do very well commenting to compensate. I also commment much more than I receive; it's the nature of this site, and of people. It is much better if you form cliques with other members. Having regular visitors helps you to get feedback on a regular basis for most of your work.

I wish I could get photos like this. Unfortunately not many places in my area ever look this vibrant during autumn! I love the composition and saturation, it looks so natural, very good job.

Thank you all for your comments! I am surprised, and very grateful! I better submit this for rating to shrink my head back down to size, haha. Many may disagree, but feel lucky to live here. We don't have age old architecture, or snow capped mountains, but we truly have 4 seasons. I love them all, but fall is my favorite. I hope to make much better ones this coming fall, but it is tough.

Jose, and Dave thank you both for your suggestions! They were very helpful and I appreciate them.

I am not just say this, but you each have such wonderful galleries!

Thanks again!

I think this is a very fine photo -- it's a scene that I've not been privileged to see very often (a single-lane road through deciduous trees at the height of their autumn color), and I like it very much.  To my eye the orientation and framing looks fine; I'd probably be thinking about the two largest branches in the upper left corners if I were worried about balance, but I don't expect too much precision in a woodland photograph.  The brightness is just what I would expect under a dense canopy, especially on a cloudy day.  While strong color is appealing, I think the greens in this photo are a bit over the top, whether that's due to enhanced saturation or enhanced contrast (or both).  It looks as if all of the colors have been goosed a bit, but only the greens really stand out to my eye.  Very nice work.

Stephen,

I've never heard that before. I did goose some to give that extra "woo", ha ha. I'll definitely take your advice into consideration. Thank you for for your perspective.
