dwaugh 0 Posted February 22, 2012 Perhaps it's ironic that a trip to a waterfall would result with a favorite image of mine not of the waterfall itself but of the rock slide below, but the colors are what make this most appealing in my opinion. Any and all comments and critiques welcome. View large for best detail. Link to comment

stp 6 Posted February 23, 2012 Well, you have to go where your eye goes, and that's as it should be. I really like the bottom half of this photograph, the portion below the logs. The colors are striking, and the smoothness of the rocks blends well with the smooth flow of the water. The upper portion doesn't quite fit with this part of the photo, IMO. I would have looked for a composition where the elements meshed in a more aesthetic way by omitting that upper right corner. The reddish orange, green, and white of the water, maybe in horizontal view, might have been a more cohesive composition. All IMO, of course. Link to comment
patrickwells 2 Posted February 24, 2012 It's a very nice shot. I like the way you captured the water movement. I also like the contrast of the red with the green. I tried a small crop to remove the upper right . This concentrates the eye on the moving water and the contrasting rocks.Pat Link to comment
dwaugh 0 Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks for the feedback. I can understand every idea and I like every one. Whenever possible, I try to frame an image so that no cropping is needed. For this reason, I rarely crop except for extreme reasons, so this one didn't get cropped (but I also like the cropped version posted above). Also, had I had more time to shoot, I would have taken different shots of this scene, such as closer up. As it is, this was my second phase of shooting after using my wide angle everywhere first.
