There were(and still are) a lot of monuments of that type all over the Soviet Union, dedicated to fallen soldiers. There's a great one in Belarus in Brest Fortress. The Fortress was standing for 3 month while the enemies were already close to Moscow, fighting without help, water, medical help, burnt and bombed...

These ones look like they are deffending the world,(the Earth), that already has a dengerous crack... I have no idea where it is, but I think it is a very meeningfull monument. Thank you. All the best, Tamara

Pierre, you have infused life into "The Fallen Defenders" by admirable perspective .Tack sharp image with very good tones. The background enhances the beauty and contrast of the image.

Your choice of black and white certainly was the right one.  The impact of this image is tremendous.  It not only honors the creator(s) of this statue; it also explains why your country - indeed any country - honors its fallen soldiers.  Your perspective in this shot helps to increase its dramatic effect.

My best,

michael

A very suitable and impressive compostion indeed Pierre. Your thoughts on those who have sacrificed much for a very just and noble cause are well 'heard'. A very fitting monument for such Valour.

Sincere regards, Gail

Dear Pierre, with this photo you leave the creative phantasy with the sculptor. Defending a broken world? Karl

Dear Gail, Karl and others, I'm glad you noticed that my intention was to emphasize the beauty and expressiveness of the monument! Dear Karl, it's most likely defending a divided country and nation, that's the case and why wouldn't it be the aim of the author to show it!

 Best regards!

Fantastic image, the mono treatment and dramatic sky really add to the atmosphere of the image. Your portfolio is great as well.

Bold, strong and statuesque. This is a wonderful image that is very powerful. It puts me in mind of a Russian type of statue. The |B&W treatment works well and the sky is moody and menacing. Well done Pierre, you have done it justice.

Beautiful detail and light! I love the angle - how you have showcased them against the clouds with their feet firmly planted on the ground - from this angle my eye immediately is drawn up to the light shining on the man's chest and then to his arms within the arms of the other men; they are strong and united. Very powerful and well done image. Thank you for sharing. :)

I do like it, Pierre, very well executed..!  It's an unsold FIFA Monument, Herr Blatter didn't like the crack.
