Mono Lake Inferno

About 15 minutes after sunset the sky went on fire momentarily. I had

wished that the tufas and the sky in the upper right were a bit brighter, but

nature is what it is.

Awesome capture with Brilliant natural colours. Just the way nature presented itself to you at that moment. Congratulations Jeff and thank you for the moment shared.

This is stunningly beautiful. I love the colors, the amazing fire red mixed with the last purple-blue of the day's clouds is simply fantastic. The foreground  tufa is a nice anchor for the image. All-in-all, a perfect image, well composed and well seen. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks everyone for your comments.  As this unfolded there were many gasps of "wow" and "oh my god"!  It was magnificent, but far too brief.
