I saw this old chain and mouldy rope in a fishing harbour. It looks like

it hasn't moved in many years, but would once have been used

everyday when there was a thriving community.

Hi Gareth,

A pleasant image to view. The clarity and tone levels are very good.

This is a good example of having all the factors come together: the lighting , the working distance,  the lens and camera settings , plane of best focus, and so forth.

If you have an opportunity, I would shot this scene using your Micro Nikkor 60mm at F/4 or F.5.6.

You will be quite pleased by the results.

I often like to bring several lens to do the same image.

Best Regards,  Mike

Hi Mike, this is actually a crop as I didn't like the original when I viewed it on screen. I did have my 60mm with me and now wish I had spent a bit longer and taken more shots. I will stop by this harbour again but as it is a 4 hour drive I will wait until I am next in the area for work. Learning 'how to take' is one thing, 'what to take' is something else!

Thanks for the comments Mike and please look in the folder to see more of this little harbour.

Best regards

Gareth.

Very well seen and captured.  Old things bring a strong feeling of nostalgia.  I can only imagine the stories and sea tales this old cleat could tell.  Good shot... Mike

Mike, stories abound no doubt from this old harbour. The harbour is still in use but only by a couple of small boats. I can imagine how busy it must have been in years past, and with little regard to saftey numerous lives will have been lost.

Thanks for stopping by

Best regards

Gareth.
