The strange thing is I kept being drawn back to the gentleman in the background (your father?), in spite of the fact your mother is in sharp focus.I like this picture a lot because it makes me interested in the subjects and makes me curious about their life situation and experiences. That's one of the things a good portrait should do, so I commend your success here.
