Hello Martin, FWIW I think you could have cropped off most of the space above his head and you would have had a better image.

Well, nothin' stoppin me from doing that now, if it's an improvement. Thanks for the suggestion.

In addition to cropping the top you might consider taking a little more off the left side of the image to leave the distance from his eyes to the right margin to be the major length of horizontal distance.  (It gives his eyes more distance to look through)  If you look at this while keeping track of where your eyes go you find you spend little time on the left while his hand, face and the window occupy most of your looking.
