This was my first attempt at taking a photo with a snout flash.

I would love your input or advice on how to improve next time!

Eliot:  Don't know what a snout flash is.  Maybe you can explain.  The brightness on the pillow and shoulder pulls my eye away from his face.  Also, his looking up and away (at what?) rather than the camera is causing too much of the whites of his eye to show - looks kind of strange.  Zooming in more would make the subject larger in the photo and I think better.  Nice shot.  Alan.

You don't want to be aiming your flash at the bright white of a pillow; composition still matters.  Keep on trying.

Thanks for the critique.  I miss spelt the flash its a snoot not snout hehe.  here is a brief discription; designed to give an approx. 15° controlled spot of light, with a hard shadow effect.

I will add a photo of it.  I took your advice and edited another image of the shot however my iso was too high resaulting in alot of detail lost while reducing noise, i will post a photo of that aswell.
