thadley 15 Posted January 23, 2012 I like it.There is a fan-like composition that starts in the upper left. The dog at the bottom left makes it even more appealing. The processing is different and akin to high speed black and white film - not something with which most photographers are familiar and perhaps not likely to appreciate. While this is a matter of my tastes, there are areas where it seems as though there is highlight loss and it is entirely possible that I could be wrong but as one boss told me, "Perception is reality'.In the field of photography, I encourage you to step out into areas like this since there are many of us that will get a twinge of nostalgia.Aesthetics can be like a dog chasing it's tail but when reason settles in there seems to be a consensus - at least here at PN when an image has a struck a harmonious chord with many of it's viewers. How to define what made it music to the eyes, is mostly a discordant task. All the very best and thanks for your recent visit, Link to comment
chris_gilbert3 0 Posted January 23, 2012 Nice shot. i live here and there is so much beautiful beach coast along here a photographers dream.. I am unfamiliar with this stretch of beach? Where was it taken because dogs arent allowed to roam freely on the beaches here? Just curious Katie. My dog is jealous...... Thank you. Link to comment
katie_clarke1 0 Posted January 23, 2012 Tony, yes, I could not control the highlight loss well, even with Camera Raw tools. At best I might have gotten a little detail but it would not have been worth the cost. Thank you for your ideas. Anon, the dog was actually chained to a post dug into the ground. I cloned out the chain as it was a distraction. K.C. Link to comment
