This particular morning was so foggy, I decided to document it. The

original photo was much darker, but I lightened it, to bring out the

details. What do you think? Comments welcome. thanks -- Janice

It was the colors that drew me in to look at this photo.

That bright sun orb with its spikes peering around the trees surrounded by the blacks and blues of a receding night is pleasing. Mix that with the vermillion sky to the right and the trees and your back porch has the potential to be stunning.

However the softness of this image leaves me discouraged. I am not sure how you shot this or how it was processed but the softness and noise detracts from the image.

Sorry about all the noise. I only used ISO 400. I had my camera on a tripod and set it to 30 second exposure. It was very dark. All I could see was the porch lights. I really wanted to capture the fogginess, but had the shutter too slow. Here is the original, only made smaller.

I looked at my photos agan. I labeled my photo "...film grain filter" I guess I shouldn't have used it. I sometimes label my photos, as to what I did in the processing.

Hi Janice,

The f-stop used was not good  for this application.

Shot wide open several good things would happen:

1] Much sharper image

2] ISO drops to 200

3] Exposure drops to 6 seconds

Yes, the use of filters does not help either.

Despite my comments, the scene is good and well worth repeating.

Best Regards,  Mike
