I like this very much and I find it difficult to understand why this image is currently at a 4.5 average. I know it is an iconic location but it is done very well. I will put it in my favorites.

I rated it a 7.

The reason this image is rated at 4.5 is because there is a bunch of people on here who have nothing much better to do with themselves. Leaving endless low ratings relieves their boredom while they are sat dribbling in their armchairs at the carehome wondering whats for tea.

Oops sorry for the rant. Back to the picture. I have to say Dave, I've seen this a few times now and it catches my eye everytime. It's the clarity of the near tree against the misty background. The only thing that puts me off is I'd like to see the whole tree against the mountain. It not only would look neater but also give you some idea of the scale. The view here seems cut off and maybe it was impossible to show anymore without including major distractions but I would love to see the grander view. Hope this is helpful.

All the best, Dave.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Ernest, John and David.  Yes, the age-old issue with PhotoNet and its troublesome rating system.  I've resigned myself to try and not get worked up about it but at the same time I'm seriously considering taking my efforts elsewhere.  I'd almost rather there weren't ratings at all but it seems to drive commenting on this site.  I appreciate your support John!

As far as the composition goes, David, I would agree that seeing more of the foreground tree would be beneficial to the image but the reality of this particular location is that it is literally the edge of a 4-500 meter cliff and to view more of the tree would be very difficult as it is well below where my tripod is standing with lots of smaller shrubs in the way.  Thanks for the suggestion though (and your ratings rant ;-)
