Wow, this puts a new twist on the Indonesian fishing industry.

The soft light and composition are absolutely supurb. The only flaw, IMO, is the little group of men hanging out in the lower left. Somehow all the rest of the image is about shape and abstraction and there presence is just a bit to mundane. Great eye, great work, a wonderful image!

Very good composition! In my opinion, the people at lhe lower left corner add some life and make the picture even better. Good DOF and contrasts, even if the sky appears to be overexposed.

I also like the people in the photo - it helps define the scale.

Usually pictures of this sort are limited to smaller boats - this is nice.

I see no distraction from the small group of men in the lower left. I think it adds to the scale of the shot.

The only criticism I can think of is that the sky seems a bit patchy grainy and uneven, but only at when viewed at the large size choice here online. Most likely thats the scan and not the photo.

Also too bad there wasn't a bit more sun that day to contrast the ships against the sky.

Nice job!

Thanks to all of you for your comments! I would like to say that I also considered taking away the people from the picture by cropping it a little bit more, but I finally let them in to certainly add a scale of the real size of the boats. In Sunda Kelapa there are -literally- dozens of such boats that are used for cargo of wood from Borneo and Celebes. I guess it was more interesting to show that fact (with the real dimensions) instead of doing a more abstract photo (I am not sure of what would have been better, though). The reason for such pale grey sky is just the hour (it was already sunset, at 6 pm), actually. I had not the chance of coming back again the day after (I had to leave Indonesia), so I decided to post that version (like the rest of the Jakarta pics in my Asian portfolio). It is true that the larger version looks grainy (it IS grainy not due to the scan, I guess, but because of the file processing, afterwards, for adjustment of contrast in PS: in order not to create a too large file when saving for web, the quality was normal and not the highest)

nice composition - eerie perspective. Too bad the men are in the photo - I would rather have seen this without them. --Rich

A striking image. You used the angles very well. There are just enough curves to soften the image. A small nit is that the sky is atonal.
