Louvre, Inside Out

paulstenquist

All of the photos in this folder were taken during a twelve hour walk through Paris. The camera was a 1953 Leica IIIf with a Summicron 5cm f2 lens. My intent was to record bits of life as I saw them, interspersed with shots of the landmarks that I passed along the way. This shot is the view up through the pyramid from the underground lobby of the Louvre.

What a very original idea for a shot. I can see that you could not avoid having the corner of the stairs (if that is what it is) in the lower right. Before reading your notes I was going to scream and yell about that being in there. But I understand now and considering that the colors and architectural design are the same inside and out, I have finally caught on to the greater meaning in the title. Boy, am I ever slow. Its not just my browser today. Its me. *grin* This is a terrific idea.

We were in the Louvre earlier this year! Man, what a place! We walked from our hotel down to the Eiffel Tower on our first outing. It served to orient the locations of things for me, more or less. It was a long long walk. We thereafter figured out how to take the underground trains. So much to see!

Hi Margaret,

Thanks for the nice comments. They made my day.

My hotel was in Montparnasse, where they cater to buisiness meetings. I think the walk to the Eifel Tower was about 3 miles. I did take the underground trains when I had just an hour or two off on work days, but for my day off I walked everywhere. I guess I wanted to see what was in between the landmarks as much as I wanted to see the landmarks. I doubt that I could ever be bored in Paris.
