going for an over saturated but simple colour effect here that

provokes a feel for the location ... what do you think?

I heard once that the worst insult to a photographer was to say his photo looked like a painting, Id be insulted by such a comment but its still fantastic to defy the realism in the photo

Usually, PSery makes images just seem like effect shots, and though this has a bit of that, I quite like it as reflective of the area. In color and design, it is reminiscent of Southwestern Art style (which I happen to fond of). The only nit I might pick is the detail of all the colors in the tree, which draw my eye strongly enough to detract just slightly from the overall design. Nonetheless, quite nice work. Enjoy.

A Painting:

Moving. Spiritually enriching. Sublime. "High art".

A photo, manipulated to appear as a painting:

Intellectually sterile. Sophmoric. Vapid. Juvenile. Commercial, computerized hack work. "Low Art".

robert called it a painting but i was really just experimenting with a shot that i was dissapointed to find hadnt turned out better. i was trying to see if i could get a feeling for the colour and the heat of the day.

Photo Manipulation:

The use of additional tools to create new and interesting effects.

Irony:

An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning. A literary style employing such contrasts for humorous or rhetorical effect.

In other words.... I liked it.

Sometimes people (here) just get too swelled on what they consider "art" ..... and I think that pretty much anything one creates is "art" to the best of their ever evolving abilities.

:-D

thanks for dropping by again jim, and clarifying.

had to dig out the dictionary last time .

my definition is along the same lines (has to be created/produced) but would add it has to stir the mind too - it doesnt matter how long it takes to make - to me - if it doesnt provoke reaction or thought its not art.
