This reminds me of a recent POW:http://photo.net/photodb/photo.tcl?photo_id=14303274

This picture has something morbid to it (cats usually do not lie this still by the water), and I don't know whether this is what you wanted to achieve ...

Kind regards, Alex

Alex,

Precious was laying on a very clean counter in the kitchen.  No water involved.  She was hamming it up for the camera, and I got this shot before she moved again.

I hope this takes away any morbidity and allows you to enjoy this image.

Thanks for your comment and the opportunity to explain.

Hi Lori,

hope you didn't get me wrong: My comment was not meant negative in any way. Just wanted to tell you what my first reaction was like. And even though it was morbidity, I think that it is always a good sign if a photo provokes some feelings. (It is also highly probable that in my case this feeling was due to the other picture I linked.)

Thanks for you explanation. So you say this is not a montage? Well then I'm deeply impressed.

Kind regards, Alex

I think is very important to capture a cat's eyes and ears in the photo.  That is what expresses their feelings.  When photographing people, you have to get their mouth and eyes, and can ignore (or cover) their ears.  With cats, it is eyes and ears.

This picture captures the kitty's eyes and ears well, to convey feelings, like, "I like you well enough to put up with the camera for another few seconds, and then you can photograph my backside..."

The reflection here reinforces the cat's expression. Great shot!  I like all of your kitty shots!

Regards,

Jim
