adrian_metzelaar 0 Posted December 19, 2011 This photo was taken in the Námaskarð geyser field in the North of Iceland near Lake Myvatn. Two days before this there was so much snow that this scene would have been unrecognisable. It was interesting to see the landscape under such different conditions and I feel that it looks more other-worldly as it is seen here as the colours are just so bizarre and alien. I could not have asked for better conditions on this morning. I had visited here four times before at sunrise and sunset and each time was quite disappointing. As the sun rose, it lit up the low cloud turning everything a soft red colour which added to the already alien coloured landscape. I have found that geyser areas are quite difficult to photograph as they usually have restricted access through ropes and fences to stop tourists walking in geologically sensitive areas - quite right too. This makes photography difficult as one is quite restricted in composition. I found the closest point to these bubbling mud pools and waited for the light. Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted December 20, 2011 A brilliant shot Adrian! This surreal image could easily be from another planet. Amazing how diverse our little planet is when you come to think of it. Superb photographic work, and stunning scenery, blended nicely into a work of art. Congratulations on a superb shot! All the best,Neil Link to comment
