Have you ever been to Zabriskie Point in Death Valley? While there have noticed you can't even see Telescope Peak from the main shooting area? It's because it's blocked by the higher part of the badlands in front of you. If you walk along the ridge you'll change the viewpoint of the shot. I've shot this place many times before and after going back to the files it was the pastel colors in the background that caught my while thumbing through my older RAW files.
