Jeff Lear 0 Posted June 16, 2013 Should I feel like an intellectual cripple having not recognized the illusion until Alex went and ruined the magic by divulging the photographer's secret? No. The fact that the illusion ruined it for some isn't important. I hate to break it to you but all magic is illusion. The man didn't really make the coin disappear into the Ether or read your mind to expose the exact card you picked from a jumbled pile, he tricked you and Andy tricked me. In my opinion, photographic trickery is far more difficult. A magician's slight-of-hand takes but a fraction of a second while a photograph exists for our scrutiny, in perpetuity. Even with all of the discussion on the clever technical trickery, I still think the photograph works wonderfully and despite all the explanations, I can still see it for what it is. It's fun being able to disassociate myself from a strict reality for my own personal enjoyment. I do, however, agree with the exposure/processing on the arms. They appear utterly zombie/corpse-ish and devoid of any life. That doesn't ruin it for me but it's something that I believe could be improved upon. Link to comment
