Deb, this is classic natural beauty!  The color combination is a feast for the visual!  Fine work!!  Best Regards, Doug.

Deb,

As a naturalist-biologist I feel this is a wonderful depiction of nature. Usually nature provides us with color schemes that are exciting and pleasant.

As an artist/psychologist,  the color scheme is quite bothersome to me.  On a Munsel Color Chart this would be a triangular scheme of yellow-red, green and red purple - all colors highly saturated, which turns out to be a lopsided split complementary scheme.  Such a scheme is highly prone to not look restful but to arouse feelings of anxiety.

Therefore i feel that the nature feeling and the psychological feeling are at war with each other.  This is reinforced by the punctuated feeling of dark and light interrupting each other.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.  I feel so blessed that I enjoy the beauty of something without having to over think it or analyze it.  I wish for you the simple joy of just accepting something at face value.  When you narrow life's choices down into two catagories, "like or dislike" it sure makes life a bit easier.

I'm dealing with a medical issue in which I will have to have surgery within the next few weeks to remove areas that cancer can thrive in or invade, so I escaped into nature with my camera in hand in an effort to sort my thoughts.  My eyes simply observed a bright orange butterfly/moth among deep purple flowers and I found myself heading that direction.  That simple moment of it feeding upon the flower brought me comfort.  Sometimes life going about it's business can somehow help when I'm overwhelmed with what's going on in my life.

I wish you could just take another look at the image and see it as I saw it...  no rules or conflicts... just for what it is - life unfolding on a sunny Friday afternoon :)
