robert_gough 0 Posted June 5, 2003 This photo and the others like it in this folder may be a little too minimalistic to be effective. Perhaps the prints have enough detail to make them more interesting but the scans seem like little more than monolithic gray images. Of the two from the blizzard I much prefer the one with the twigs poking out through the snow to give the viewer a sense of what they are looking at. I'll give you some points for originality though. Keep trying. Link to comment
peter_witkop 0 Posted June 8, 2003 I think the image (and the other waves and sand shot I commented on) is a good one, and not nessicarilly too minimalistic (that's a subjective judgement IMO, so it's not unless you think it is), but IMHO it lacks in contrast, so there's no low values to "anchor" the image, not enough overal contrast. I suspect you'd like the way the textures come out if the sand was a a bit darker too. Just make sure the contrast is high enough (long enough development preferably) that the hightlights on the water stay high, otherwise it'll just look muddy. Nice camera by the way :o) Link to comment
fred c. 0 Posted June 8, 2003 I see what you are getting at, but it's really not original. Anyway, congratulations for trying. Link to comment
