Nice moody atmosphere captured here.  Great tone + texture.  Have you looked at this image with the shadows, on the right and left sides, cropped out?  The darkness wants to pull my eye away from the statue.  Taking out the left/right shadow will heighten the impact to the statue's shadow + add some intrigue.

I've used the shadows as a framing device to focus attention on the statue and its shadow. I think the sense of intrigue and mystery is far less without them.
