What a happy group, and it sure appears to be the Salvation Army Band. The uniform is 'world wide' and I must say I went to the Salvation Army from the time I was about 10 until I turned 34. I was not in Uniform but enjoyed many happy times, from being a camp counsellor, working at the summer camps, participating in many activities. I actually attempted to learn to play the coronet, but failed miserably. I have a feeling my main interest at the time was the other 'young boys' in the band. So it probably was best I did not excel!!!!

I recall many times coming to the aid of others, whether it be local folks or being part of one of the many ladies groups who made crafts and baked goods for the annual Christmas Bazzar. The proceeds sent to needy folks all over the globe.

I have enjoyed the Band music for many years, and as Christmas approaches, this capture brings back many fond memories of caroling as the snow fell down about us, especially on Christmas Eve. We would visit many of the folks who had to work that evening (Fire and Police Stations to Hospitals etc.) knowing that if they could they would be home with their families, but instead were ready to heed the 'call' if they were summoned to help.

Although I no longer have the Salvation Army as my  'chosen House of Worship', I am thankful to so many who were there for me as I grew up, and thankful I had the opportunity to be in a place where I could help others, whether it be youngsters from torn or misplaced families at our summer camps, or those in the city that I lived in.

You have captured a beautiful 'spirit' in these folks Ruud, I  pray that it is so for so many all over the world.

Thankyou for bringing back to me a few of the 'happy moments' I experienced in what seems to be 'another life'.

Most sincerely, Gail
