During my recent Yosemite trip, I was lucky enough to experience two season opening snowstorms. The first storm brought amazing conditions for photography, but by the first afternoon, most of the snow melted away and by the second afternoon, was completely gone save for a few north facing slopes. The snow returned overnight, however, and by dawn had again blanketed the valley with a heavy, fresh dusting. As I perused my RAW files after returning home, I noticed a series of images just after the sunrise that exhibited a strong copper hue. Within a few minutes later, the color cast returned to a more cool hue. This aided me in editing because I really liked the effect it had on the snow color. Normally, one would expect a much cooler palette, so this offered a unique appearance. Thanks for your comments and please utilize the Larger preview!

The larger view shows a beautiful presentation and I too, enjoy the slight "copper" presence.

Quite a dynamic image and interesting story............... well done.

Such an incredible landscape, from top to bottom and left to right.  The clearing clouds loosening their grip on the peaks are terrific, and the foreground just looks stunned (yes, I meant stunned) and must now try to regroup and recover.

Hi Mark,

This vantage point of Yosemite has naturally been done many time over and isn't a new concept. Thanks to Ansel Adams' fantastic works many of us like to record our own versions.

Does that mean I get tired of this perspective. Hell NO!

You have captured a magnificent image. That copper tone you refer too is sublime, the ominous weather and the dusting of snow adds to the raw beauty of this place.

Its many 1000's of miles away for me, but I hope one day to capture my own rendition of this wonderful iconic landscape.

Well done!

Consistent quality in all your shot and a couple which are landmark shots for you and the site. Your shots have moved the bench mark higher for all of us. Well done and congrats for producing fresh views of a well photographed location. Best wishes William
