Finlay what I was after a reflection of Blencathra lit with early morning

light. I also have the panorama version and with for ground interest but I

quite like this simple composition.

Your comments are always welcome thanks for viewing.

PS I know I need to clone out the blade of grass bottom right

Hi Richard,

This is a beautiful scene captured.

I normally do not get excited by the use of 40mm lens shot at F/16, due to the loss in definition from diffraction.  I understand the pictorial value of making this capture outweighs any more details that your lens (shot at F/4) would have yielded at this range.

As for DOF, you did keep the little weed or tall grass in focus at the lower right side of the image.

Nice presentation.

Best Regards,  Mike

Mike,

I find my 17-40 is not terribly sharp at F4 I think its best at f8, I should of used it for this image as you point out I did not need it to keep everything in focus, I had being shooting using the rocks for FGI so had it stopped down to F16 and left it there for this image.

Great mirror reflection and the tree is perfectly placed within the frame. The frosty fields add a nice contrasting element also. Very well done!

Best Regards

Alf
