So often images of flowers capture the flower but not its beauty. You have done both in this shot. I choose this or perhaps your ship in the mist for POW. Oh why not both.

Wonderful composition, exposure, and lighting.

I am awestruck. Speechless. I keep looking at your flower images and each one is better than the last. This is one I'd actually like to inquire if you make prints and sell?? I've never asked that of any of the images I've seen on photo net... Wonderful! 10+10

This is your best folder, bill. O man, I am going to switch to provia, thats final! Selective DOF makes this image so much more than the usual stop all the way down crap i do for macro. You inspire me, sir!

I'm glad macro work has got POW. Although outstanding it's beautiful as many other close-up of flowers, beetle, etc. Beauty of nature marco works is very often neglected, something unnoticed, treated like a cliche, unresonably in my opinion.

It's probably since many people are not

sensitive to the beauty of the nature, and every such photo looks the same for them.

Furthermore they're looking for emotions

in the pictures, something they can't find in nature photos of course. That is why people photos

are much more popular.

I've loved this image for quite some time and still wish I had a nice big print. This is an exquisite shot! Congratulations on a well deserved POW.

I like the displayed view of the flower, the use of light and colors and the composition. I only wonder if you did edit the picture digitally ?? I'm having a little trouble with the sharpness being only in the center of the flower.

I'm especially impressed with the lighting. I'm guessing it's backlit and also has a highly difused front light source. Do you care to tip your hand?

When I saw the thumbnail for the POW, I though "what the heck (actually, it wasn't "heck", but you get the idea"). My initial response was based upon what seemed to be a lack of punch in the colors of the flower and the fact that *until now* I have not really appreciated the flower macro. Like Pawel said, I was of the belief that flower macros lacked emotion and are somewhat cliched.

BUT, when I opened up the larger image, what can I say but WOW! What I originally perceived as a "lack of punch" was in fact some of the most wonderously muted and delicate colors I have yet seen in a photograph! The delicacy of the petals is enhanced by the delicacy of the lighting, and I do believe I had an emotional reaction to it. Truly outstanding - and congratulations (especially on this being your second POW).

If I may, I would also like to inquire whether any special lighting techniques were used.

Wow!!! is what I thought when I saw the photo of the flower. Normally, flower or plant photos don't do much for me. But this one is incredible. You got everything just right on it. I don't know if you did it available light, or set up complex lights -- I'll think it was available.

Seriously, what a great photograph. For those that know me, know I rarely ever say that about photos. ESPECIALLY flower ones. Great job.

While the lighting, color, and translucence of the petals are indeed beautiful, I am a little disturbed by the fact that the central globe of petals almost sits on the bottom edge of the frame. I would have liked to see a bit more distance between it and the frame.

This is one of the most sensual photographs I have ever seen. There is a delicacy and tenderness expressed with a nakedness so palpable that it evoked pity in me.

I know nothing about flowers, and less about macro photography, so appreciate this photograph in the most innocent and pure way possible. Often I find that we most enjoy what we least know about.

Beautifully exectuted photograph. The selective focus, the coloration and gradation from pink to white are wonderfully done. My only suggestion to improve the photographs would be better balance between the amount of white petals to the top and bottom. The focal point of the coloration, the center of the bud is too low in my opinion. I'd like to see more of the whiteness of the lower petals for better balance. But, I think it is a very appealing and beautiful photograph. Nicely done!

It is a really nice photograph, I like the look of it, but flower macros are all over the place, end of story...Nothing original here, in my opinion.

What I really like about the shot is the motion I see. I can see the flower opening up right before my eyes. Cool shot!

As amazing as this photograph is, I find it equally amazing that Dan Michael (in the first

comment above) managed to predict, on April 17,

the exact two images of Bill Storage that would

be POW. Amazing!
