I've just been looking back over your portfolio and I remember many of the individual pictures and series very well. You've always had such a great eye for composition and tone and your work has long represented a standard I aspire to. This is a good example: the man placed right in the center of the frame, just what the "experts" tell you to avoid. But here it works very well indeed, I think because of how much of his surroundings you have included. The background adds interest and it plays an important role in the success of this picture. It holds the photo together with a chipped and weathered rhythmic linearity; it supports the subject of your photo

with the same rock-solid sureness as the stone ledge upon which he sits. Of course, none of this would matter much if the tones weren't captured with such exquisite precision.
